A new environmental initiative organised by the Cégep de la Gaspésie et de Îles

Gaspé, December 17, 2012 – The Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles, in partnership with the organisations Équiterre and ENvironnement JEUnesse invites Year 5 Francophone and Anglophone students enrolled at the region’s secondary schools to organise eco-responsible graduation proms.

As part of the Prom for the Earth contest, schools from Grande-Vallée to Matapédia, including the Islands, will have until March 15 to submit projects that will help make their grad proms more ecological.

A jury composed of members from the three organisations will determine the winning project, which will be selected based on the following criteria: explanation of their eco-responsible project, the project’s originality and their ability to accomplish the project.
The secondary school with the winning project will receive a cash prize of $4,000 to carry out the project submitted. Any money not spent once the project has been completed, can be used to help organise the school’s grad prom. In addition, one of the students who submitted a project for their secondary school will win a $500 academic bursary from the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles in a random draw.

Schools can enter the contest beginning today, by visiting our site
